Privacy policy
Summary
Freshform is built so that your health data never leaves your devices. There is no account, no server operated by us, no analytics and no advertising. We cannot see your data.
Who is responsible
Paracelsius Productions Pascal Kocher, uf em Bärg 23, 1734 Tentlingen, Switzerland (see imprint). Contact: support@freshform.ch.
Health data
With your permission Freshform reads data from Apple Health: workouts, heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, blood pressure, VO2max, active and resting energy, steps, distances, body weight, nutrition and water.
All calculations (training load, readiness, recovery, nutrition targets) happen on your iPhone and Apple Watch. The results are stored only on your devices.
Freshform writes to Apple Health only the food and water you log in the app. It never changes or deletes other data.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing and never passed to third parties.
Coach
The coach and the daily briefing use Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence). Your questions and data are processed on your iPhone and are not sent anywhere.
Your chats with the coach and the notes it keeps about you (for example goals or injuries, only after you confirm them) are stored on your iPhone only. You can view, edit and delete them in the app under Coach › What the coach knows.
Food lookup (Open Food Facts)
When you scan a barcode or look up a product, Freshform sends only the barcode number to the public database Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) to get the product's name and nutrition values. No health data, no diary entries and no identifiers are sent. Open Food Facts receives your IP address as with any web request; see their privacy policy.
iPhone and Apple Watch
The iPhone app sends its computed scores to your Apple Watch through Apple's device-to-device connection, so both show the same numbers.
Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple. We do not receive your name, email or payment details; Apple only tells the app whether Pro is active.
Notifications
Reminders and summaries are created on your iPhone as local notifications. No push service is used.
Crash reports
If you agreed to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They contain no health data. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Your control
You can change which data Freshform may read or write at any time in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Freshform. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your devices. Food and water you logged stay in Apple Health until you delete them there.
This website
The website is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no content from other servers. Our web host is METANET AG in Zurich, Switzerland. Like every web server, it records technical access logs (IP address, time, page, browser) to deliver and secure the site; they are deleted automatically after two months at the latest and are not evaluated otherwise.
Support emails
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to answer you, and delete them when the conversation is finished, at the latest after two years, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Our email runs on Microsoft 365, which processes it on our behalf.
Where data is processed
Freshform itself processes your health data only on your devices. Purchases and optional crash reports are handled by Apple, also in the USA. Barcode lookups go to Open Food Facts in France. Support emails are stored by Microsoft in data centres in Switzerland (spam and virus filtering may also take place in the EU); Microsoft can also access them from other countries, in particular the USA, for example for support and security. Microsoft is certified under the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and also relies on standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time what personal data we hold about you (in practice, at most your support emails), and have it corrected or deleted. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, to the data protection authority of your country. Legal basis for answering support requests: your request and our legitimate interest in answering it (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
Children
Freshform is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.
